A Texas teenager is charged with intoxicated manslaughter after a car accident that took the life of one of his passengers and seriously injured the other. The fatal car crash took place on July 28, 2013 in the 9700 block of West Bellfort around 3:00 a.m.
According to Houston police officers, the teenager was driving under the influence of alcohol. The teenager was driving his Nissan Maxima at a high rate of speed and lost control. His car hit the median and crashed into a pipe that runs along the side of the bridge. The car then proceeded to fall below the bridge and into a culvert.
The 19-year-old driver sustained only minor injuries. His 19-year-old back seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The front seat passenger, 20, was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital to be treated for his serious injuries. The at-fault driver is charged with a number of offenses which include intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter in the 339th state District Court.
