1 Dead, 2 Injured in Texas Highway Car Crash

It was reported that a 53-year-old Texas man was killed in a car accident that occurred in Karnes County on the morning of July 14. Troopers with the Department of Public Safety stated that a truck heading north on the highway struck a guardrail. The impact of the collision caused the truck to swerve into the southbound lane and strike a pickup.

The pickup was carrying three people. One of the occupants, the 53-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The remaining two occupants in that pickup were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of the injuries they suffered. Two of those who were involved in the incident, a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, were in critical condition one day after the accident. It was not clear if they were from the same vehicle as the deceased man.

At the time of the report, authorities stated that they were still investigating the crash and attempting to determine whether the driver who caused the accident was drunk or fatigued. It was not known if they planned to file charges once the cause was known.

Know Your Rights After a Car Accident

Those who were injured in a car accident may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit if it can be determined that the driver who caused the accident was driving negligently or carelessly. Once the investigation is finished, the injured person may be able to file the lawsuit in order to potentially recover the cost of any damages that were sustained. For example, an injured person may be able to seek compensation for damages such as medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
