Two women were killed in an Arlington car accident on Nov. 9, authorities stated. According to the Arlington Police Department, the wreck, which also injured two individuals, might have been caused by a drunk driver.
The event occurred at about 2 a.m. at the intersection of Matlock Road and the Interstate 20 service road. A westbound Chevrolet Malibu carrying four people entered the intersection and was struck by a southbound Dodge Avenger that had just run a red light, police said. As a result of the collision, the Malibu spun and struck a traffic light pole, where the vehicle came to a stop.
Two occupants of the Malibu suffered fatal injuries as a consequence of the wreck, a 26-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman. The Malibu’s driver, another 26-year-old woman, suffered severe head injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to the Medical Center of Arlington, where she received treatment in the intensive care unit, according to authorities. Another passenger in the Malibu, a man, suffered unspecified injuries.
Police detained the driver of the Dodge Avenger, a 38-year-old man, at the scene of the crash. He is facing intoxication manslaughter charges.
Recourse for Surviving Families of Car Accident Victims
Families of victims who die in car accidents are rarely prepared to deal with the financial setbacks that can accompany the instantaneous and unexpected death of a loved one. Not only can funeral bills, burial costs and estate administration expenses accumulate quickly, but a family member’s death might also mean less income contributed to the family household.
Many bereaved families seek civil remedies for these financial damages through a wrongful death suit. An Austin car accident attorney may advise victims’ families on the necessary steps to take in order to seek wrongful death restitution.
