A man lost his life in an automobile crash on the west side of Austin that involved multiple vehicles. The wreck happened at 9:03 p.m. on March 23.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 27-year-old man was going westbound on the 9000 block of Ranch Road 2222 when he swerved into the eastbound lanes. There has been no definitive reason yet cited as to why he may have crossed over the center line, but it is known that he attempted to pull back into his own lane almost immediately. Unfortunately, a Chevy Tahoe had been traveling in the eastbound lanes when he went into their path. The driver of the Tahoe swerved to their right, into the westbound lane, in an attempt to maneuver around them. As they tried to avoid each other, the two vehicles steered directly into one another, and a fatal collision occurred.
The 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Two people, a woman in her 70s and a man his 80s, were transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge for treatment of potentially serious wounds. A woman in her 50’s was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. No details on the seriousness of her injuries were reported. There have been no toxicology results published yet from any of the people involved.
