A sergeant from the Waco Police Department said that witnesses reported seeing the driver of a Ford pickup truck go through a red light on North 26th Street before crashing into a Mitsubishi SUV that was heading southbound on Bosque Boulevard. The collision that occurred on April 20 caused the Mitsubishi to roll over. Emergency responders transported the 62-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi to a local hospital. He could not be revived and was pronounced dead, police said.
Police officers from the Cleburne department intend to serve as the victim’s pallbearers because the man had served on that force for 30 years. In addition to his police career as a motorcycle officer, he had served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
