For 24 years, the annual run has provided the families of Austin, Texas with a festive event that allows participants to walk or run for a good cause. The Austin Jingle Bell 5K benefits the well-known non-profit, MADD, or Mothers Against Drunk Driving. For 10 straight years, we’ve sponsored this family-centered event, and we’re excited to extend our support this year as well.
This year’s Austin Jingle Bell 5K will kick off Sunday, December 8th with a festive shopping opportunity, complete with seasonal vendor booths and Santa Clause himself. Each participant will receive the signature jingle bells that give this race its name, along with an event t-shirt to commemorate the occasion. Runners are encouraged to dress up in their festive holiday best and wear the bells as they walk or run. Plus, the top three finishers in each race category will receive medals. And, let’s not forget, the proceeds for this race go to a good cause.
For 39 years, MADD has worked tirelessly to prevent drunk driving and to lend support to individuals and families affected by drunk driving accidents. Now the nation’s largest non-profit, MADD helps roughly one drunk driving victim or survivor every 3 minutes through local advocates and helplines.
