A car accident on West Parmer Lane in Cedar Park has resulted in the deaths of two high school teens and injuries to two others. The accident happened on Jan. 10 at about 9:30 p.m., when a 2011 Nissan traveling north went through the center median. It crossed into southbound traffic and ran into a 2000 Volkswagen.
A 17-year-old female was driving the Nissan when the car accident happened. She and her 18-year-old male passenger were both declared dead at the scene. The teens were students at Vista Ridge High School. The principal of the school gave the families of the teens his sympathies. He also said that counselors were available to talk with students who are affected by the deaths. A 25-year-old was behind the wheel of the Volkswagen, and he was taken to a medical center with serious injuries. There was a 21-year-old female passenger in the car as well. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital where she was later released.
People are obligated to exercise reasonable care when they are doing something that has the potential to injure or kill another person. It is unclear what caused the 17-year-old driver to cross the median into oncoming traffic. She could have been speeding and lost control, or she could have been driving drunk.
