Two-Car Accident Kills One, Injures One

Two women from Texas were involved in a two-car accident near Garrett around noon on Nov. 3. The crash caused the death of one of the women and injury to the other. There were no reports of any other people or vehicles having been involved in the wreck.

The accident reportedly took place on FM 879. A sedan being driven by a 20-year-old woman from Ennis was proceeding westbound on the road when it left the roadway for unknown reasons. Police believe the woman went onto the shoulder, regained the road but then began to skid. Her vehicle went into the path of oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with another sedan that had been going east.

The 61-year-old woman from Corsicana who was driving the eastbound car received serious injuries in the accident. She was transported to the Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas for treatment. The woman driving the westbound car was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The investigation into the crash had not yet been completed at the time of reporting, and no official reason for the vehicle’s loss of control was stated.
